31 Days of Tarot- 2018 Year Ahead Reading

I’m doing it! Despite my better judgement, I’ve decided to participate in Ethony’s 31 Days of Tarot to kick off 2018. Possibly because I can barely believe it’s 2018.

Anyway, seeing as we’re starting out with a full super moon and ending January with a lunar eclipse, I might as well use that energy! So let’s get this rolling. This is the spread I used for this reading. I was gonna do the big wheel of the year reading, but considering I’m kind of lazy and my mom’s birthday is today, I decided not to. I’ve used this spread for some friends too, and they’ve all said the reading was super accurate. For the reading itself, I used my go-to decks- Pythia Botanica Oracle and Ophidia Rosa tarot. These two are my ‘for everyone and everything’ decks. I’ve found them to work with all the Theoi, as well as with most subjects! Also, it’s totally my aesthetic. Anywho, let’s get into the reading!

Card 1- theme for 2018 Devil’s Bit/Scabosia A warning is what this card gives me- don’t let your spirit diminish, keep fighting negativity. Keep going. Don’t become a cynic. Card 2- departing energy from 2017 5 of Swords Conflict is finally leaving for me! There will be less fighting, less arguing without clear purpose. Card 3- talents I’ll be expressing in 2018 2 of Wands My talents for building, for creating will finally be put to use this year. I’ll be working on new ideas, starting new things, and finally getting to show it off! Card 4- future opportunities 8 of Swords I’ll be given opportunities for freedom, chances to move out of crowded space and make my own. Places to open up to. Card 5- upcoming obstacles The Tower I swear this shows up in every yearly reading I have. This is my stalker card, 100%. Time for another year of things getting taken down suddenly, and another year of seeing what should be there now that it’s gone. Card 6- how to deal with upcoming obstacles 8 of Pentacles Work. Keep going. Study. Be dedicated. This is a year of moving, of learning, of being what I must. Card 7- how to achieve my goals and dreams 7 of Cups Use magic. Break illusions. Find what’s real. Illusion is necessary at times- figure out what that is. Overall, 2018 is gonna be another hard hitting year. But it’s full of growth, of new opportunities, of hope. Let’s get down to work.
