Of everything in divination, witchery, and paganism, tarot reversals probably cause me the most anxiety. Reading with them, reading without them... somehow, both cause me some form of anxiety.
The short answer is no, I don’t read reversals. I’m more of an intuitive reader than a by the book reader, so I feel like it’s enough usually to just trust my instinct.
However, everything is more complicated than that.
When I first started, I tried reading reversals and it always panicked me. Not because I didn’t get the meaning of the card or because I felt like it was negative, but because it didn’t line up. It bothered me that the cards weren’t all the same way.
Nowadays, that’s not so much the reasoning. Well. It sorta is. Most of my decks have non-reversible backs and I hate when those aren’t all the same direction too. It makes me feel physically sick.
I like the idea of reversals more than I used to- it’s a way to get an idea of that’s card energy at a glance. But honestly, I’ve felt my readings are just as full and detailed without them and if it stresses me out, why bother?
